Bay Area Solar Photovoltaic Ordinance Toolkit, a project of the Bay Area Regional Collaborative* and the Bay Area Regional Energy Network (BayREN)**, provides guidance for Bay Area cities and counties that are interested in requiring solar photovoltaic, or PV, systems on new single-family and low-rise multifamily residential units. the Solar PV Ordinance Template streamlines the ordinance development and adoption process for local governments. It allows local governments to customize certain features. It includes information about optional enhancements to consider such as solar thermal, commercial buildings and high-rise buildings.

This map shows how the Bay Area regional agencies each identify disadvantaged and vulnerable communities, and how each of these approaches overlap in identifying the communities around the region. The Metropolitan Transportation Commission, Bay Conservation and Development Commission, and Bay Area Air Quality Management District, have each developed a methodology that look at select population characteristics, and health and location-based indicators to help quantify disproportionate vulnerability to the impacts of air quality or flooding. BARC is facilitating an evaluation and coordinated effort among the regional agencies to better understand how we can work together to inform and optimize policy, programming and funding to more effectively support our Bay Area communities that need it most.

The Bay Area Regional Collaborative (BARC), Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) and Bay Conservation and Development Commission’s Adapting to Rising Tides (ART) Program are workign together to develop a regional adaptation planning process aimed at increasing the resilience of the region’s transportation and community assets. The project will increase the resilience of the Bay Area’s transportation system to current and future flooding, while also improving the safety and sustainability of our communities, particularly our most vulnerable and disadvantaged communities.
